UK Invoice Finance Benchmark Report 2025/6
The report brings together findings from our surveys of UK businesses, alongside analysis of costs, advance rates, late payment trends and customer satisfaction across providers.
It is designed to help business owners, advisers and journalists understand how invoice finance is being used, what it costs, and how service levels compare.
Key Findings
Some of the headline insights include:
- 84% of businesses experience late payments, with many reporting cash flow strain.
- 59% of businesses are unaware of invoice finance, and awareness of its benefits remains low.
- Only around 1% of UK businesses use it, leaving a significant awareness gap.
- On average, costs vary by 87% between providers, meaning businesses that don’t compare options risk paying far more than they need to.
- Advance rates ranged from 80 to 100% of the sales ledger, with factoring generally offering slightly higher levels of funding.
- Customer ratings vary widely, ranging from 4.9/5 to 1.5/5, underscoring the importance of selecting the right provider.
- AI is reshaping how businesses operate, with most businesses exploring or already using AI in some form.
Why It Matters
The benchmark reveals that late payments and cash flow pressures continue to be a challenge for many UK firms, yet invoice finance remains underutilised. For existing users, the wide variations in charges and funding mean regular benchmarking is essential to avoid overpaying.
We plan to update the benchmark in the future to identify and track industry trends.
